Managing Behaviors of Sexually Abused Children in Institutional Care: Life Skills Training for Social Workers and Houseparents

Course Description:

Children who are placed in institutional care often have behaviours that are difficult to manage because most of them experienced or are experiencing multiple trauma in their lives, thus the need for institutionalization. This training will help professionals in understanding the dynamics of sexually abused children and how to respond to their behaviours using positive discipline and providing life skills training. These skills will help the children heal from the trauma and thrive in their lives. Skills learned in this training will also help the staff in their personal and professional life.

Objectives:

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Identity different the impacts of sexual abuse on children
  • Demonstrate capability in assessing life skills trainings needs of sexually abused children
  • Demonstrate skills in conducting life skills sessions
