Special Project
Project Title: Parish and Community-based child Protection to Prevent and Treat Child Sexual Abuse in the Diocese of Novaliches
Highlights
Project Milestones
CPTCSA and the Diocese of Novaliches have been working together in managing cases of child sexual abuses from the Diocese where roles of each organization in the case management process were not clearly defined thus made the case management interventions confusing for clients as well as for the case managers.
Recognizing the need to improve the delivery of direct services of the Diocese and the importance of preventive programs against child sexual abuse, CPTCSA and the Diocese of Novaliches decided to formally work together to implement programs for the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse in 10 selected parishes. Aside from CPTCSA’s working relationship with Diocese, the Diocese was chosen as major partner for this project because its readiness to transparently address child protection issues both within and outside the church.
Thus, in 2020 the project partners (the diocese) and stakeholders’ (partner parishes) commitment to achieve a shared goal of preventing and responding to child sexual abuse and exploitation in their respective parishes and communities was formalized through a memorandum of agreement between CPTCSA and the Diocese and signed resolutions by parishes who will participate in the project.
The project goal is to contribute to the elimination of child sexual abuse and exploitation through preventive and rehabilitative interventions.
And the project aims to implement parish, school, community and home-based prevention education program against child sexual abuse and to develop a Diocesan case management and counseling program for children victims of sexual abuse.
