Special Project
Project Title: Parish and Community-based child Protection to Prevent and Treat Child Sexual Abuse in the Diocese of Novaliches
Highlights
Project Outcomes
At the end of the project, parishioners and members of the church ministries from 10 parishes in the Diocese of Novaliches and residents from the covered barangays have practiced basic child sexual abuse (csa) preventive skills (detection of signs and symptoms and able to seek help for any alleged and confirmed cases of sex abuse).
A total of 2,775 adult parishioners and members of church ministries were reached through trainings, advocacy sessions, consultations meetings, case conferences, family sessions, counseling and mentoring or coaching. These activities are the continued effort to fully capacitate the project partners to detect, report and manage cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation according to the minimum child safeguarding and child protection standards.
As a result of these interventions, 68 cases were served by the project through its case management program and out 68 cases, 30 cases are from the Diocese of Novaliches and out of it 8 cases from parishes where the project is being implemented.
